Since his debut release in 2008, Phaeleh aka Matt Preston has developed an inimitable style of cinematic electronic music, which floats between the shifting tempos and timbres of dubstep, garage, electronica and house music. Phaeleh’s last three epic releases have cemented his position as one of the most exciting and consistent producers to emerge from his current hometown, Bristol.
Daega Sound have their own unique take on creating dubstep and dance music. Driven solely by their lifelong love of music, these brothers are steadily laying a foundation of releases and performances gaining national and international critical acclaim in the ever-evolving bass music scene. Their sound is polished and sophisticated, with a dubbed out quality and heavy emphasis on sub bass. Intricate syncopated drum rhythms laced with unforgettable melodies sit on top of layers of ethereal soundscapes, creating an unmistakable atmosphere.
Michael Red is a Vancouver-based electronic music producer, performer and DJ. The founding member of Vancouver’s Lighta! Sound, acting captain of the Low Indigo ship, one half of the experimental dub duo Chambers, curator for New Forms Festival for over ten years, Bass Coast Music Festival resident, long term collaborator with throat singer Tanya Tagaq, and ambient/experimental artist under the alias Souns. His music has been released on Low Indigo, Modern Math, New Kanada, Mutek Recordings, South Fork Sound, King Deluxe, Debacle, Beacon Sound, Deep Sea Mining Syndicate, Panospria, Sensing Waves and more. Michael’s performed across Canada, Europe, Mexico, New York and has been written about in The Wire, XLR8R, Resident Advisor, and Vice’s Thump. Ongoing influences include: dub music, all nature, outer space, the unseen world, transcendence and evolution.
Emerging in late 2012 with a sound that was all his own, Tor’s debut album ‘Drum Therapy’ was the culmination of over a decade of quietly honing his craft, merging the aesthetics of dusty samples with polished production, addictive melody and distinctive driving percussion. After catching the attention of Emancipator, it became the first release to launch his new label Loci Records. Even though Tor’s background had been strictly studio- based, he quickly found footing in the touring world supporting established acts like Emancipator & Bluetech on national U.S. tours, performing at multiple festivals such as Shambhala, BassCoast, What The Festival & Burning Man, in addition to remixing artists like ODESZA.
Onbeyond is the multimedia design project of Sijay James, a Nelson, BC based graphic designer, VJ and DJ. Onbeyond has worked extensively with Apparent Productions and Invisible to co-produce events across the world for over a decade. As a design firm Onbeyond has provided integrated visual media for numerous events, festivals and clubs, including Boom Festival, Shambhala & Bass Coast, as well as performances as a visualist in the clubs of Nelson, BC since 2008.
Sijay James is the Lead Designer of CosM Journal, produced by Alex & Allyson Grey, and will be providing an environment of remixed visionary art to accompany the music and live painting by the Greys.
